Notorious party strip possibly only less sinful that Sin City herself, South Beach is a place for sun, siesta and sundown madness. Its north-meets-sur laid back attitude combines with just enough glitz to keep you coming back in your 6 inch heels. At least I keep coming, anyway.
You can’t begin to count the crystals in the lobby chandeliers and everywhere you go you’ll be dropping big bucks, be it 16$ breakfast berries or 60$ cover at LIV, the hotel’s big name nightclub. The pools are truly fabulous. The whole place, really.
Budget Stay: South Beach Hostel 235 Washington Ave
Clean dorms steps from Ocean Drive for late night salsa sensations at Mango’s Tropical Café, 2 for 1 bulldog margaritas, and the best American 3 am pizza you’ve ever tasted at Pizza Rustica.
Baller Shopping: Bal Harbour Shops 9700 Collins Ave, Bal Harbour
Beautiful open-concept mall where the Fendi, D&G, Louis Vuitton and friends coalesce. And their little brother Saks. Grab a bite at Carpaccio after your shopping rituals.
Budget Shopping: Aventura Mall 19501 Biscayne Blvd, Aventura
If you are unlucky enough to have a rainy day, make it a mall day and hop on the S or the 120 bus heading north anywhere along Collins. Possibly every store ever in one convenient spot, and there is always a good deal to be found and I swear you’ll want to come back. From your MK handbag to your Lady Footlocker basics, you won’t know where to begin. Fuel up at Cheesecake Factory.
Avoid Zuma (270 Biscayne Blvd, Downtown Miami) at all costs. The service, the menu and the prices are so bad that the word zuma is a new synonym for horrible.
