Another SIN city. Possibly only less excessive than Dubai. But I’ve never been there.

I managed, although you could honestly never leave, to get away from the shiny lights at the three tower super structure Marina Bay Sands Hotel – a more-than-luxurious-5-star-hotel which includes a mall, a casino, gardens, a Ferris wheel and a rooftop infinity pool with an epic view. “La démesure”, as our guidebook called it.

We explored Little India and ate divine momos, butter chicken and excellent paneer at Shish Mahal. You can also shop for silks, cottons, jewelry, and clothing along Arab st and El Haji lane, and end with a trip to the Sultan Mosque to beckon in its glow.

In Chinatown, we found souvenirs, and visited Sri Mariamman, an impressive Hindu temple.

With its four official languages and openness to the world, Singapore is so refreshingly cosmopolitan. The MRT, Singapore’s subway system provides tourist day passes, and is a great way to get around. Just don’t chew gum to avoid the fine.
